Tovala Molten Lava Cakes

Chef Chrissy's Molten Lava Cakes are perfect for Valentine's Day - or any time you're craving a decadent chocolate treat.

Lava Cakes


4 oz. butter

6 oz. chocolate

2 eggs

2 egg yolks

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 tsp. salt

2 tbsp. all-purpose flour

Butter and flour for ramekins


Melt together butter and chocolate with a double boiler. Once melted, set aside to cool.

Butter and flour four ramekins.

Whip together eggs, egg yolks, sugar, and salt until the mixture reaches ribbon-stage.

Fold in cooled chocolate-butter mixture in batches.

Sift and fold in flour.

Pour batter into prepared ramekins.

Bake in Tovala Oven using QR code (bottom right).

Invert ramekins (carefully!) onto a plate. Use a towel to remove the ramekins.


*You can make this mixture the day before cooking and keep it in the fridge, but it needs to come to room temperature before baking.
